All future Bayern Munich home kits will ONLY feature red and white

The Bayern Munich ultras have spoken and the club have listened! From now on, the club’s home kits will only feature red and white, which have always been Bayern’s main colors. This was confirmed by the club’s website as board member Jörg Wacker, who’s responsible for the club’s merchandising, confirmed the decision had been made after discussions with fan representatives: FC Bayern München AG has been in conversation with fan representatives about the use of club colours in kits. For fans, kits represent an important sign of identity with their club. FC Bayern München AG has thus announced that in future, only the club’s traditional colours of red and white will be used in official match clothing – that is the home kit comprising shirt, shorts and socks. We will also stay in regular contact with fan representatives in relations to kits.

Bayern’s ultras protested the navy blue shorts in the home kit on a handful of occasions at the Allianz Arena with banners and choreographed demonstrations voicing their concern. They also made their voices heard over their distaste of the light blue, mint/green away kits that closely resemble the colors of the 1860 Munich. The away kits also feature the unpopular navy blue shorts that have been so heavily protested.

Wacker did reveal a few weeks ago in an interview with az that the fans do have a portion of the say in what the kits will look like from Adidas, so it still remains to be a bit of a mystery as to how they wound up with navy blue shorts for this season. He did mention that the jerseys are subject to DFL and UEFA regulations, but that wouldn’t necessarily be the reason way different colored shorts would be incorporated. Needless to say, the Bayern fans will certainly be happy with the decision to only utilize red and white in the home kit moving forward.
